Telerehabilitation is defined as a way to deliver rehabilitation services (or physiotherapy, in our case) remotely using information and communication technologies such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

Telerehabilitation has existed for several years and has been the subject of numerous scientific studies. In the current pandemic context, this working tool has become particularly valuable, allowing us to continue treating our patients while also offering our services to new patients through remote evaluations. Despite some limitations that are beyond our control, this practice offers several important advantages.

Among the most notable benefits is the ability to:

• Offer physiotherapy services while respecting current government public health guidelines, including limiting human contact and reducing travel.
• Follow up with existing patients by answering their questions, continuing and adapting their treatment plans, providing education, and adjusting their exercises.
• Take on new patients through remote evaluations when the condition allows it.

However, there are also some challenges:

• Managing the technology required, such as having the appropriate equipment, access to the internet, and the ability to use software that may function differently depending on the device (computer, tablet, smartphone, PC, or Mac).
• Providing a less comprehensive assessment than in a clinic setting due to the inability to physically examine the patient and obtain certain objective measurements as precisely.

Telerehabilitation is therefore not always the optimal solution. However, in the current context—where respecting government guidelines is essential to limit the spread of COVID-19—it represents the most appropriate option we can offer.
