Cervicogenic Headaches
Among the many officially recognized causes of headaches identified by the International Headache Society (IHS) are cervical spine disorders. These may involve muscular problems (tension or weakness), joint dysfunction, or irritation of nervous tissue. Such issues may be related to trauma or to poor working or sleeping postures.
Because medication is often less effective for this type of headache, physiotherapy—through manual therapy and specific exercises—represents an effective treatment option for many patients suffering from cervicogenic headaches.
