Global Postural Reeducation
Global Postural Reeducation (GPR) aims to restore mobility in restricted joints while stretching shortened or hypertonic muscle chains associated with symptoms. This process helps improve overall body alignment.
Proper body alignment helps prevent postural problems, reduces stress on joints and surrounding tissues, and promotes optimal movement patterns by engaging the appropriate muscles. It also helps prevent musculoskeletal pain.
Global Postural Reeducation treatments help control pain, improve body structure, posture and body awareness, increase flexibility, retrain breathing patterns, and enhance proprioception through both static and dynamic integration exercises.
Global Postural Reeducation is intended for individuals seeking a different approach focused on a comprehensive view of the person. It is an individualized and private treatment method that considers all musculoskeletal issues within the same treatment plan. This approach addresses both the causes and the symptoms while encouraging active patient participation, allowing individuals to better understand and integrate the recommended changes.
Conditions treated with Global Postural Reeducation:
- Postural problems such as scoliosis, hyperlordosis and hyperkyphosis, with or without pain
- Leg alignment issues such as genu varum and genu valgum, with or without pain
- Joint and periarticular pain such as tendinitis, bursitis and capsulitis
- Lower back pain, mid-back pain and neck pain
- Headaches
