Pediatrics

Pediatric physiotherapy is a field of physiotherapy that focuses on treating children aged 0 to 17 who have orthopedic or neurological conditions.

During the first appointment with the physiotherapist, a comprehensive assessment of the child is conducted to determine their abilities, limitations and the factors that may be contributing to them. This evaluation includes questions about the child’s developmental history, observations of their motor abilities, and specific tests assessing mobility, strength, muscle tone and balance. Based on the results of the evaluation and the goals of the child and their family, the physiotherapist develops a treatment plan. This plan is personalized and adapted to the needs and objectives of both the child and their family.

Many conditions can be treated in pediatric physiotherapy, including torticollis, plagiocephaly, scoliosis, developmental coordination disorder (DCD), delays in motor development (associated with a diagnosis such as Down syndrome or without a diagnosis), orthopedic injuries such as sprains, post-operative follow-ups for fractures or muscle injuries, as well as other conditions affecting the child’s musculoskeletal system.
